Early Childhood Education |

This program is for students between the ages of 3 and 5 who have been identified with cognitive, motor, communication, or social-emotional needs. It is a play based program which focuses on the whole child to improve the developmental skills. Students attend class for half a day, four times a week. The Peer Model Program is an integral part of this program. These children must be 3 years old on or before August 31st. They attend school with the Early Childhood Special Education students four days per week. No transportation is provided for the Peer Models. Mrs. Katie Sandmann |

Mrs. Sandmann is a graduate of Kansas State University. She has been teaching 3 years all of which have been in the USD 475 district within Jefferson Elementary. Mrs. Sandmann’s teaching philosophy is that every child is different and school should be taught at a level that is developmentally appropriate. “It is not so important to know everything as to appreciate what we learn.” |

Mrs. Abby Markley

Mrs. Markley is a graduate of Postdam Collage (SUNY) and Kansas State University. She has been teaching for 11 years, 6 of which have been in the USD 475 district. The 2007-2008 school year will be her first year at Jefferson Elementary. Mrs. Markley’s teaching philosophy is that the students come first, while setting a good base for education and development at an early stage as to positively influence the future. “If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always gotten.” “Support the parents and you support the child.” |
