Mr. Vern Steffens, Principal |
|
I believe that all students can learn and the school controls the conditions to assure that students have the opportunity to learn. It is my responsibility and challenge as the principal to create the conditions that provides a public service to evoke knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to students so that they will develop into productive citizens for our society. My vision is to have a school that students, parents, teachers, and the community want to be affiliated with because of high student achievement and teacher development. I graduated from Junction City High School in 1972 and joined the Army shortly afterwards. I also married my high school sweetheart that year and we have been married for 35 years. We have one daughter and she attends Kansas State University. After my 20 year career in the Army, I attended Kansas State University to earn a degree in teaching. I have been involved in education for the past 13 years starting as a teacher assistant, then a multiage classroom teacher, on to an administrative assistant to the principal, next assistant principal, and now principal.
